  Unit 6 Shopping

  Good morning, dear judges. It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson. I'm candidate NO.11 applying for primary school English teacher. Today my topic is Shopping. In order to make it much clearer, I'll express my thoughts in the following six parts: analysis of teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. Now I'll present them just one by one.

  First of all, I want to introduce the teaching material.

  This lesson comes from Unit 6, People’s Education Press, Book 4. It mainly deals with the new words and dialogue about doing shopping. This lesson is close to students’ daily life. Therefore, learning it well will do a great help not only to the following study of the unit, but also to the whole learning of English.

  Based on the new curriculum standard and teaching material, my teaching aims are designed as follows:

  Firstly, knowledge aims are Ss will be able to listen, read and write the new words,such as gloves, sunglasses, umbrella, etc; and they can also use the sentence “Can I help you?” “Can I try it on?” to make dialoy aims are to develop students’ speaking ability and to train their ability of communication in the real situation. gue about shopping.

  Secondly, abilit

  Thirdly, emotional aims are to cultivate students’ correct consumption view and arouse students' learning interest.

  On account of the above analysis,the key points of this lesson are to help students listen, read and write the new words and sentences to do shopping. The difficult point is to help the students to use the new sentence in their daily life.

  Next, let's turn to the analysis of students.

  Pupil's abstract thinking is still not fully mature, and their image thinking in learning plays an important role. They have curiosity about English and are willing to speak English. They can do some actions under the teacher's guidance, but can't use the English flexibly. So, through various activities such as games, songs, the students' interest in English will be stimulated.

  Based on the analysis of teaching material and students above, in my class, I will adopt the Audio-Visual method to establish a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the students. Task-based language teaching method offers the students an opportunity to complete the tasks in which students can use language to achieve a specific outcome and their comprehensive language skills will be improved.

  After the presentation of teaching methods, I will come to the forth part of my presentation: learning methods.

  Students will acquire the English knowledge and to improve their English skills by self-study, cooperative learning, exploring, etc. In this class, I will encourage all the students to practice listening and speaking bravely by giving them tasks which needs to be done in pairs and groups.

  Now, it’s time to express my ideas of teaching procedures. It consists of 6 steps.

  Step1 lead-in:

  I will create a situation: Da Ming goes to America to visit his friend. One day, he passed a and saw a very beautiful scarf. He wanted to buy it to his mother, but couldn’t know how to communicate with shop assistant. can you help him? Then the topic of this lesson will be led in. in this way, students' learning interest will be aroused and the topic of this lesson will be led in naturally.

  Step2 - presentation:

  Firstly, I will show a picture of different articles , and lead students to know the new phrases. For example I will show a picture of sunglasses and lead students to know the word.

  Secondly, I will lead students to read these words and let them pay attention to the pronunciation.

  Thirdly, I will ask students to listen to the tape of the dialogue and lead them to find the key sentences in this dialogue: can I help you? Can I try it on?

  Fourthly, I will write the key sentences on the blackboard and tell them how to use this sentence pattern and then lead them to read several times.

  Finally, I will ask students to listen to the tape again and imitate the pronunciation and intonation of the sentence.

  Through these ways, students will get to know the new words and learn the pronunciation of each word.

  Step3 - practice:

  I will design two activities to make students practice the new words. Moreover, I will divide them into two groups and let them compete with each other. The good group will be given flowers/stars. At the end of class, I will choose a better group and give them reward.

  Activity1 : high&low voice game

  when I read the new words with high voice, students should read them in low voice. vice versa. Activity2: make a dialogue

  I will ask students work in pairs to make a dialogue with new sentences and I will give positive comments on their dialogue.

  These games can help students practice the new words and sentences further and improve students' basic speaking and listening skills.

  Step 4 - Consolidation

  Task: role play

  I will ask students to work in pairs and do a role play. one student acts as Da Ming and the other acts as shop assistant and then try to buy the scarf. I will give students three minutes to prepare.

  then I will ask some pairs to come to the front and do the role play. Other students should make some comments.

  In this way, I can improve students' communicating and cooperating abilities.

  Step5 - Summary:

  ask students to summarize the language points they have learned in this lesson;

  I will make supplements and emphasizes the important of learning English and team cooperation.

  Targets: check students’ weak points and review the knowledge.

  Step6 - Homework:

  students are encouraged to go shopping with their parents by using the new words and sentences they have learned today.

  Targets:making dialogues with what they have learned in class can consolidate the teaching content of this lesson.

  Finally, I will talk about my blackboard design.

  As you can see, I will draw the pictures of different articles and give the English below the pictures to help students to understand them better. In the next line, I will write the sentence patterns “can I help you?” “can I try it on?”

  Through this blackboard design, students can clearly know the key points of this class.
